We would like to invite you to another lecture from the AMU Invited Lecture Series in Current Approaches in Eco-Physiology.
The lecture entitled “As neurochemist in Africa: Peptidomics-based phylogeny of the novel insect order Mantophasmatodea” will be given by prof. Reinhard Predel from the University of Cologne.

We invite you to the lecture of prof. Guy Smagghe on “RNAi as a new tool in modern agriculture.” The lecture will take place on January 12 at 10.30 in the Oval Room at our Faculty. This is another lecture organized as part of the AMU Invited Lectures Series In Current Approaches in Eco-Physiology.

Dr. Guy Smagghe, born in Belgium in 30 June 1968, is a professor with an expertise in entomology. He is internationally recognized for his innovative research on novel insecticide activities, hormone mimetics, RNAi, and the training of people, from the North and South, in different aspects with pest and beneficial insects that are important in agriculture. Specifically, he supports a more green agriculture with enhancing biodiversity and sustainability to feed a growing population of 9B people.

We would like to invite you to the lecture organized as part of the AMU Invited Lectures Series In Current Approaches in Eco-Physiology, entitled „Resistance evolution against antimicrobial peptides”. The lecture will be given by Prof. Jens Rolff from Freie Univeristät Berlin, the outstanding specialist in immunology and microbiology. Meeting will be held on the December 9 at 11.00, in Lecture room A (Sala A).

Prof. Jens Rolff is an evolutionary biologist focusing on understanding the evolution of long-lasting immune functions in insects, as well evolution of bacterial resistance against antimicrobials. Moreover, the scope of his research investigates the ecological immunology of insects and the evolution of metamorphosis. Since 2012, Prof. Jens Rolff is the head of the Evolutionary Group at the Institute of Biology, Freie Universität Berlin. He is one of the leaders of researches concerning functioning of insect immune system. Prof. Jens Rolff is an author and co-author of more than a hundred articles, including publications in such prestigious journals as Science, PNAS or Trends in Microbiology. Moreover, Prof. Jens Rolff has been a principal investigator of projects funded by the European Research Council (ERC).

We invite you to the lecture of dr Nikoletta Ntalii from School of Agricultural Sciences at University of Thesssaly in Greece. The title of lecture:

“New trends in plant protection and the role of natural pesticides’.

Date and time of meeting: Thursday,  November 17th 9.30 on MS TEAMS.

We would like to invite you to the seminar “Cold survival is a multifactorial and complex trait: Insight from Drosophila” which will be given by Dr Hervé Colinet from the Ecobio Unit at the University of Rennes 1 (see attachment). Dr Colinet is a leading scientist in the field of ectotherms thermal biology. His research focuses on adaptive responses of ectotherms to environmental and anthropic constraints. To do so, he applies various approaches ranging from ecophysiology to evolutionary and molecular biology with aims of reaching an integrated understanding of stress adaptations at different organization levels, from genes to individual responses. The lecture is organized as part of the AMU Invited Lectures Series In Current Approaches in Eco-Physiolog and will be held on the 4th of November at 11:30, in the Aula, Faculty of Biology UAM.

The LIX Centennial Meeting of the Polish Botanical Society will be held in Warsaw from June 26 to July 3, 2022. The motto of the LIX Congress of the Polish Botanical Society, coinciding with the Society’s 100th anniversary in 2022, serves as the guiding principle of the Society: “Amor plantarum nos unit – We are
